We have a logo!
Thanks to Tawny Hewitt for this cool little logo. It will be utilized in the future for merch we plan to sell to raise money for Churches United as well as representation for our crew when we are out and about rocking gardens with a vengence!

June 2026 Update
Busy start to the season but we are looking at some good production this year!
The season started out late due to a late cold snap in May. Followed by hot dry conditions that stressed many of the newly planted seedlings. However, I am happy to report most everything has survived and with the recent rounds of rain we have had things are looking to be on track after the setback.
After pivoting away from squash to peppers at our Junkyard location I am happy to report that they are doing the best out of any of our locations that have peppers! Trying something new never hurts, especially when growing food for your community.
New gardens!
Just today we broke ground on a new garden for the residents of the YouthWorks downtown Moorhead campus!
We have 2 new gardens that have been put in already at residential locations to help with the Veggies for the Pantry program through NDSU extension service. Thanks to the homeowners for joining the movement!
Raised Bed Install at Churches United
We have been in talks with Churches United and will be setting up raised bed gardens at their North Moorhead campus behind Cashwise. One mobility accessible bed has already been installed.
Due to the price of Cedar they will be starting a fund-raising campaign based on the first installed bed. Stay tuned for details!

Planting has begun
The warmer weather took a bit to get here but we are already planting outside (in our greenhouse anyway).
We have also been in talks with YouthWorks to install a garden at their new campus in downtown south Moorhead and Churches United for their North campus.
More to come soon!

Empty Bowls!
We had the honor of helping out at the 1st Annual ‘Empty Bowls’ event at Swing Barrel Brewing Company on March 7th.
Bringing together local ceramic artists and restaurants for a good cause. Guests received a handmade bowl, bread and a soup.
Soup was donated from Rustica, The Spice Grille, Fryin’Pan, and bread from Black Cat Bakery. Swing Barrel donated proceeds from their beer sales and Harolds on main did the same during the after party.
After all was said and done, over $5000 was raised for Churches United.

Seedlings are starting!
Starting off the season with a good jump on our peppers and tomatoes. We will be repotting into larger containers soon and will be transporting them to a member’s outdoor greenhouse in late April to get them acclimated to the outside ahead of the planting season.

February 2026 Update
Season is starting off early with an event in conjunction with Empty Bowls (https://emptybowls.com) next month at Swing Barrel Brewing in Moorhead!

2025 Season End Update
Great season overall with some lessons learned. The end of the season saw Veggies for the Pantry haul in over 28k pounds of produce compared to just 10k from the previous year. The drop off site that we support netted 6,600 pounds alone with the help of our volunteer gardens and gardeners.
Next year is going to bring some fun changes including the addition of 2 more gardens and several more volunteers. Plans are in the works for a planting and garden prep event in the spring as well as a fundraiser in conjunction with https://emptybowls.com/
Stay tuned!
